6 Ingredient Small Artisan Bread Loaf (for family dinner!) EASY RECIPE
When I want to serve my family dinner with a similar type of “complementary bread loaf” as you would have during a meal dining at a Texas steakhouse—this is what I do!
HERE ARE THE INGREDIENTS THAT I USE:
1.5 cups warm water
7 grams active yeast
1 tbsp. honey
3 cups bread flour (+1/4 cup for forming loaf) *works with all purpose too
3 tsp. salt
olive oil drizzle (for brushing surface of bread pan & top of loaf)
za’atar spice seasoning mix (*optional* but our favorite!)
& HERE IS WHAT I DO:
Pour 1.5 cups of warm (not hot) water in a bowl, then add 7g of active yeast and 1 tbsp. of honey, whisk and let sit for a few minutes until bubbly.
Then, add 3 cups of bread flour and 3 tsp. of salt. Combine.
Cover the dough with a towel and let sit in dark, warm place, to proof—for about 90 minutes. The dough should at least double in height.
After 90 minutes, pre-heat your oven to 380*.
Sprinkle some flour onto a clean surface, coat the proofed bread dough with about 1/4 cup of flour, so that it doesn’t stick to your hands, then roll and form a loaf shape.
Place into a baking dish/bread loaf pan that you have rubbed the surface first with about 1 tsp. of olive oil (black truffle oil is so good too).
Score/cut the bread down the middle once and drizzle just a little bit of oil—about a tsp. (I also like to sprinkle some herb seasonings inside the cut/on top as well)…and place in the oven to bake for 25 minutes.
After 25 minutes, lower the temperature of the oven to 350* and bake for final about 20 minutes until done.
Serve warm alongside your family dinner!
Enjoy,
x. Heather
P.S. We eat it plain, with salt and butter, as well as sometimes alongside a homemade oil/herb/vinegar dip.

Looks yummy! Sometimes (or most times) I just want a simple bread and not all the sourdough fuss. I’m going to try your recipe, my family will thank you, haha.
