Heather's Guacamole RECIPE
It's been a friends and family favorite for a decade, but here is the (just slightly) updated version!
Happy 10th birthday to my guacamole recipe!
As an avid guacamole eater, I spent years attempting to create the best version of my homemade recipe by trying a plethora of ingredient combos—with tomatoes, without tomatoes, even a version with pico de gallo. I also tested lemon vs. lime juice…lime ending up the superstar.
My original recipe has been a loved favorite for over a decade now. Many of my close friends and family members have adopted it as a staple in their own kitchens as well.
So whether you stick with the original or fall for the updated version—it’s always perfect to bring to gatherings or potlucks, as well as great simply served with chips and especially as a taco topping!
HERE ARE THE INGREDIENTS THAT I USE:
3 large avocados
1 bunch of green onions/scallions (use about 1/2 cup chopped)
1 bunch of cilantro (use about 1/2 cup chopped)
3 big pinches of Falksalt wild garlic sea salt flakes (trust me, get this exact kind!)
1 lime’s juice
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1 tbsp. finely cube-chopped green jalapeño (no seeds)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
*Note: in order to get the right texture - please use a mortar and pestle!
& HERE IS WHAT I DO:
Slice avocados, place the pulp in to a mortar or stainless steel bowl. Chop the fresh green onions/scallions, cilantro, jalapeño and red onion— place in to the same mortar bowl with avocados. Cut lime, use a citrus squeezer to squeeze juice over the avocado mix. After coating the avocado mixture with the lime juice, then sprinkle the garlic powder and pinches of Falksalt wild garlic sea salt flakes over top all (use your fingers to actually pinch and smash the sea salt flakes in to smaller bits). Then mash all together with the pestle until desired smoothness - I recommend a medium “chunkiness”.
Enjoy all!
