That’s Heatheresting… is FOOD, TRAVEL + LIFE STORIES by Heather Restrepo, an approachable gourmand, with a passion for sharing— a happy eater.
Tens years after first publishing my blog, here I am launching on Substack!
“That’s Heatheresting” is a play on words - “that’s interesting”. WEBSITE/BLOG/ONLINE COMMUNITY MORPHED IN TO A 3-in-1. It’s the evolution of how I share my articles and connect with the community that I love… and beyond!
Stories shared of what I cook, where I eat, places I visit and a play on the things that I find INTERESTING.
Like a foodie speakeasy. Like a close friends list…
My absolute dream job is to experiment with beautiful ingredients in the kitchen, every day. But also, I have a deep passion for story-sharing. So, over the next decade, I am going to be traveling to specific locations to experience and eat from my “to-eat” list that I had started in my private journal, as a teenager. I will be sharing my personal notes, guides, recipe creations and general life stories, along the way too.
Story articles will typically be longer format reads, whereas the general weekday recipes and notes alike, should be rather short and to-the-point.
Like Anthony Bourdain said, if you’re going to intersect anywhere, it’s going to be with food.
So, will you join me?

GOALS
STORY TELL, TEACH, SHOW & SHARE THE WHY. In a warm, gracious yet hard-working way, and with the apparent love of life and appreciation of cuisines and culture! I aspire to create opportunities for connection and to learn things (about, to-do, etc.) that will never leave your repertoire.
Also hoping to (create a sense to) bringing back women’s cooking clubs, even if in a modern era way…
FREEMIUM (80/20)
I will post a mix of free and premium (subscriber only) articles. 80% will be exclusively available only to paid subscribers - for privacy reasons, as well as the ability to dive a bit deeper behind the general public’s eye.
OPTIONS
You can subscribe and receive/read my stories, editorials and recipes via email. But, it’s way more fun if you also create a free Substack user account and download the Substack app. That way, you can utilize all of the community features like comments, chats and discussion threads… as well as notes, which are kind of a cross between Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posts.
PRICE
You can subscribe to my Substack for free, and will receive access to the public articles only.
The other choice is to subscribe to my Substack as a paid subscriber—for $7/month (one venti Starbucks coffee), which then you will have access to all of my recipes… guides, stories and exclusive community features too.
FREQUENCY
Weekly or bi-weekly —just depending on my travel schedule.
DISCLAIMERS
I am not a chef. What I make is not put through a professional test kitchen, just…my kitchen. Also, please note that I am never relaying personalized recommendations, but rather everything is shared for informational purposes only.
Troubleshooting - If you’re not receiving newsletters to your email. This typically has something to do with how you set up your Substack account. It’s usually super easy to fix, just head here to find an easy-to-follow step by step, with pictures. Also, be sure that the email address in which you signed up with, is the correct spelling. Unfortunately, I cannot be responsible for typos and errors in email address entries.
Access Issues - If you are having trouble accessing paid content and the Substack platform. Substack is a platform that I use to host my articles, I will not know the answer to all questions related to issues with the platform or app, itself (i.e. You are having trouble logging in, etc.)
Heather Rest’s Substack - If you are trying to access the paid subscriber’s archive for That’s Heatheresting…, The direct link to my Substack page is here. Once you are there, navigate to the top right corner, and “sign in”. Then, follow the prompts to sign in to Substack to access my subscriber-based content. If you are still stuck, Substack has a great support team that are able to help you! You can access their support page here. If you can’t sign into your account, you may have subscribed with a misspelled email address. Get in touch with the Substack Support team (linked above) for help with any login or technical issues.
Canceling Subscriptions - How to cancel a subscription. If it’s a breakup with my Substack, I will be sorry to see you leave our community! However, in order to cancel an active subscription, you will need to be logged into your Substack account and access your settings. Check out this article for a step by step guide, with pictures. Note: Selecting “unsubscribe” at the bottom of an email, does not cancel your paid subscription. Refunds are not available, since you can’t “unread”.
